We always recommend and prefer to survey, no matter how big or small. This gives us an opportunity to review the items moving, assess any potential access issues, parking or vehicle access issues etc. It also gives you a feel for our team and the way we work, we always think its great for you to meet us whether in person or virtually.
-
We try to be as flexible as you need us to be, but if you have a date in mind, or are restricted to a specific date we would strongly recommend you book as early as possible. However, to give a guide, 3 weeks in advance should be adequate.
-
Usually our surveying team will provide an arrival time agreed with you prior to the day. This is usually discussed at the quote stage. Our standard days are a 9am start.
-
Yes! Absolutely, we have a variety of vehicles available so we can be on hand whatever your needs.
-
Yes, we require a deposit to secure your removal date in our diary.
Our deposits are 50% of the total price in order to secure a date, with the remaining balance payable 24 hours prior to your removal date.
-
Deposits paid are non-refundable, however, if we have the availability to accommodate your new removal date, we are happy to change and transfer your original deposit. We cannot guarantee availability however.
-
We understand these things happen, and we often discuss completion moves at the survey. We offer a time exemption option, which is a set cost you would pay, which covers any duration of waiting time until completion. Without a time exemption, we would charge our standard hourly rate, per hour until completion, when we can then resume the removal.
-
Yes, you are welcome to book a van and however many removal staff you require at an hourly rate. Please note there is a non-refundable deposit of 2 hours charge to secure your desired date.
-
Payments can be made via cash, card or bank transfer.
-
The average cost varies significantly based on the volume of items and the distance traveled. Generally, for a local move, you might expect to pay anywhere from £400 for a small flat to £1,200+ for a larger family home. Because every move is unique, we provide free, fixed-price quotes to ensure you know exactly what to expect.
-
For a standard 3-bedroom house, removals typically range between £800 and £1,200. This can fluctuate based on whether you require a full packing service, furniture dismantling, or if there are access challenges at either property.
-
While many firms have fixed operational costs, there is often room for a "no-pressure chat." At Fast Track, we aim to be as competitive as possible. Rather than "haggling," we recommend discussing your budget with us—we can often suggest ways to reduce removal costs, such as moving on a mid-week date or handling some of the smaller packing yourself.
-
Yes, it is standard industry practice to pay a deposit or the full balance in advance to secure your date. This ensures the team and vehicles are dedicated solely to your move. Always ensure the company is VAT registered and has a solid reputation (like our Checkatrade vetting) before paying.
-
The most cost-efficient way to move is to declutter thoroughly before your survey, so you aren't paying to move items you no longer need. Additionally, booking well in advance and choosing a mid-week date can help keep costs down.
-
Mid-week days (Tuesday and Wednesday) are typically the most cost-effective and least expensive days to move. Because demand is lower than on weekends or Fridays, you may find more flexibility in pricing and availability.
-
Friday is the most popular day because it allows the weekend for unpacking before returning to work on Monday. However, because it is so popular, it is also the most expensive day and banks/solicitors are often at their busiest, which can lead to delays in key releases.
-
In the industry, we often suggest avoiding Fridays if you want a stress-free experience. If there is a delay in the property chain or money transfers, you risk being stuck until Monday morning. A mid-week move offers a much better safety net.
-
Look for three main things:
Verified Reviews: Check sites like Checkatrade or Google for real customer stories.
Transparency: Ensure they offer fixed quotes rather than vague hourly rates.
The "Vibe": Choose a friendly team that makes you feel comfortable. You are inviting these people into your home, so trust is essential.
-
Be wary of companies that:
Only accept cash payments.
Provide a quote without asking for a detailed inventory or site survey.
Use unmarked vans or have no physical business address.
Have no insurance or refuse to show you their terms.
-
Absolutely. When you factor in the cost of van hire, fuel, insurance, and the physical toll of lifting heavy furniture (not to mention the risk of damage), a professional, laid-back but organised team is almost always the more cost-effective and safer choice.
